Bruce H. Winkelman

Bruce is the managing partner at Craig & Winkelman LLP and has almost 30 years experience in trials, appeals and complex civil litigation matters.  He represents and counsels clients on a wide range of business, civil and insurance related issues, including complex coverage disputes and “bad faith” matters. Bruce has received a peer-reviewed AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America for his expertise.

Bruce received his legal education at the University of San Diego, where he was a co-founding editor for the Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Evidence. He received his bachelor’s degree studying American history at the University of California, Berkeley.

He is a frequent lecturer on dispute resolution issues and has taught mediation and insurance courses as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University’s law school. He has also authored numerous publications on a variety of legal and negotiation issues.

Out of the office, Bruce is an avid photographer and enjoys hiking, reading, music and cooking.  He is also an eternal optimist, as evidenced by his almost fanatical devotion to Cal Bears football.  Bruce has served as a board member for a non-profit that assisted disadvantaged high school students to develop entrepreneurial skills and has coached Little League baseball.  He resides in Berkeley with his wife and three children.
